An Eritrean Draft Dodger

Drafted at the point of a gun,

a conscript crossed the border;

dropping behind another gun.

Yet, with the same weapon,

a substitute was found.

Across the seas and years later,

the conscript,

is poring over a “repentance form”.

And yet, people shout: behold!

the resistance.
