Asmera, the feisty.

 

The pride of the mighty.

 

Of the old and the new.

 

Pictures of French gardens.

 

And Italian gardens.

 

Pictures of palm beaches.

 

And snow covered ridges.

 

Adorn its restaurant walls.

 

And bars.

 

Alas!

 

In the journey for modernization.

 

And civilization.

 

Village life, power and tradition.

 

Was sacrificed for a new nation.
