Recalling its founding on the basis of a resolution adopted by the National Conference for Democratic Change, held from 31 July to 9 August 2010 in Addis Ababa, the Eritrean National Commission for Democratic Change, expresses its gratitude for the trust put upon itself, and affirms its resolve to carry through the resolutions and recommendations of the National Conference for Democratic Change.

A central task of the Eritrean National Commission for Democratic Change is to ensure a successful conclusion to the prospective National Congress by bringing the forces of democratic change to one forum and facilitating a civilized conversation among Eritreans. The success of the national congress will no doubt bring closer the demise of the dictatorial PFDJ regime and the day when our people’s vision for a pluralistic, democratic Eritrea becomes a reality.

To make the above goals feasible, ENCDC believes that it is of utmost importance to ensure a fair and equitable representation of all of our society’s sections and political forces in the upcoming Congress. The Commission, therefore, declares its earnest desire and readiness to work with all forces of democratic change who aspire to see a successful national congress.

ENCDC recognizes that shared trust, transparency and honest exchange of ideas are essential for the effective conduct of its work. It, hereby, therefore, respectfully calls upon all Eritreans who aspire to see a democratic Eritrea – political forces, civic organizations, individuals and others – to be part of the intensifying national momentum, by establishing contact with members of the Commission who are located near them as well as with their respective popular committees currently being formed to assist the Commission.
