SANTA CLARA CA. – The Eritrean Community Center of Santa Clara County has received a two-year $10,000 Cultural Pathways Program Award from California Arts Council (CAC) to support for programs that promote cultural awareness and arts initiatives of the community.

The California Arts Council grant will be used to expand activities to preserve cultural identity and empower Eritrean immigrants by creating programs in culinary arts , cultural dance, music, poetry, theater and heritage language for youth and children as well summer youth programs.

“The CAC grant will enable the Eritrean Community Center to support cultural arts and performance programs such as traditional music and dance, poetry, theater and heritage language for the youth and children,” said Executive Director Regga Tekeste. “This funding helps us achieve our mission of enriching the education experience for the children to participate in cultural activities.”
