A boat that took off from the Libyan coast around July 27 to July 29 carrying 180 Eritreans has sunk not far off the coast, while still in Libyan territorial waters, Radio Erena reported. 155 of them are presumed dead. The rest 25 were saved through the help of Libyan coast guards.

One of the human traffickers involved with this boat, by the name of Jemal, has already started informing families of the death of their beloved ones.

As for the news of another boat sinking incident that supposedly took place about a month ago on early July, carrying 200 Eritreans, it has yet to be conclusively verified.
