Yosief Ghebrehiwet on Sunday Paltalk: “Owning the Sanctions”

Dembe Menisey niDimocrasin Fithin has invited Yosief Ghebrehiwet to give a speech on the tightening of sanctions by the UNSC on Eritrea and its various implications – that is, what it means for Eritrea and Eritreans.

The Paltalk speech will take place tomorrow, on Sunday, August 07, starting at 11:00 AM (Pacific Time - Los Angeles Time).

The title of the speech is Owning the Sanctions. The outline of the speech goes as follows:

  1. Why do we need to own the sanctions? In this part, the role of sanctions in ushering regime change in Eritrea will be discussed.
  2. What kind of change are we seeking? This point is deemed to be important because the kind of regime change we are seeking determines the way we look at sanctions. At the center of this discussion will be the fallacies of the Democracy Project.
  3. How do we own the sanctions that are not crafted with regime change in mind? In this part, various ways of “owning” will be discussed, with the intention of clarifying the distinction between wrong and right ways of owning it.
  4. Where should our focus turn now? Here, two main points will be discussed: how we should work strongly for the US to designate Eritrea as “State Sponsor of Terrorism” and for the sanctioning of the mining companies.
After the speech, questions regarding the subject matter or any other questions regarding anything that Yosief Ghebrehiwet wrote will be entertained.
