On Saturday January 3rd, a memorial service was held in Los Angeles, California for the three daughters of Colonel Tesfahans Hagos who perished in saddening circumstances in Eritrea.
 
According to Awate.com “Gedab News has received reliable information that 13 children who were escaping from Eritrea were gunned down and thrown in ditches somewhere between Ghindae, Eritrea, and Port Sudan, Sudan. The specific location of their murder is not known.”
 
Mourners, including close family members of the victims, held this Day of Remembrance in Los Angeles not only for Hossana (14), Rita (17) and Ariam (19) but also for the 10 others whose names have yet to be identified.
 
The service included spiritual messages, prayers, hymns as well as speeches about the larger predicament our country finds itself in. Among the speakers were, Berhane Haile of El Shadai Eritrean Church, Eyob Beraki of Bisrat Wengel Eritrean Church, Amanuel Yitbarek, Colonel Tesfagebriel Embaye (Hufun) and Daniel G. Mikael.
 
A specially recorded message of condolences and encouragement from Elsa Chyrum of Human Rights Concern was also presented to the audience.
